About ICanRoll

Real dice. Real rolls. Cryptographically certified.

What Is This?

ICanRoll is a physical dice roller. Not a random number generator dressed up with animations — actual dice, physically shaken in a can, photographed, and returned to you with cryptographic proof that the result is genuine.

Every roll is certified. Every photo is real. No algorithms deciding your fate.

Why Build This?

Digital dice rollers are just random number generators in costume. They're fine for casual play, but some moments deserve real dice — the physics, the uncertainty, the clatter. ICanRoll exists for players who want that experience even when they can't sit around the same table.

Whether you're running a high-stakes D&D campaign, playing Pathfinder over Discord, or settling a bet with friends across the country, you can watch real dice tumble and know the result wasn't generated by code.

How It Works

Start a session, add your players, pick your dice, and hit Roll. On the other end, a mechanical shaker tumbles the dice inside a can. A camera captures the result, and the image is cryptographically signed before it even leaves the device.

Each roll includes:
  • A photograph of the actual dice result
  • Video footage of the roll
  • AI-assisted value recognition (you confirm or correct)
  • A SHA-256 hash proving the image hasn't been altered
  • A downloadable certificate anyone can verify independently

When your session ends, download a PDF — a permanent record of every roll, complete with timestamps, player names, and verification data.

Provably Fair

The verification system isn't just a badge — it's real cryptography. The photo you receive is hashed the moment it's captured, before it's transmitted. The hash is signed with the server's private key and bound to your session. You can independently hash the photo, compare it to the certificate, and confirm nothing has been tampered with.

This means neither you, nor us, nor anyone in between can swap a photo or fake a result. The dice decide.

Who Built This?

ICanRoll is independently built and operated. It's a passion project — born from too many years of remote tabletop sessions where "just trust my roll" wasn't quite enough.

Support the Project

ICanRoll is free to use. If you want to help keep the dice rolling, support on Ko-fi — supporters receive a reward code to unlock the Tankard of Ale decoration on their tavern table.
