ICanRoll — Physical Dice Roller with Video Proof

Tips

• Sessions auto-save — refreshing the page resumes exactly where you left off, including roll history and photos.
• Sessions expire after 6 hours of inactivity or 24 hours total. Download your PDF before it ends.
• A session holds up to 500 non-scratched rolls.
• A warning banner appears at the top if the system goes offline. Rolls are disabled until it reconnects — nothing is lost.
• Roll certificates are permanent proof — even a shared PDF is enough for anyone to independently verify any roll was real.
• The last 5 roll photos are kept in memory for instant gallery access — older photos load on demand as you browse back.
• On mobile, the roll button stays disabled until the current roll completes — this is intentional to prevent double-rolls.

What is ICanRoll?

ICanRoll connects to a physical dice-shaking device (the can) that physically tumbles your dice, photographs the result, and sends the photo back to this app. The photo is the record of the roll. Entering a value is optional — it shows in the PDF if entered, and is simply blank if not.

Every roll is cryptographically signed the moment it happens. You can verify any roll is authentic, unmodified, and genuinely yours — no trust required.

#1Setting Up

• Enter a name for each player in the Session Setup panel.
• Select which dice type each player is rolling (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20, D100). Greyed-out options aren't available on the currently connected cans.
• Add more players with + Add another player.
• Hit Roll on any player's card to begin — the setup panel closes and the session slides into view.

#2 & #3Rolling

• Hit the Roll button on a player's card to shake the can and capture a photo.
• The photo lands on the table as a scroll. Click the scroll pile to open the full roll gallery — all rolls across all players in order. Click a player card photo to see that player's history only.
• In the gallery you can enter or change the dice value, scratch a bad roll, unscratch it, or verify the certificate — on desktop these controls are shown directly, on mobile hold the photo or tap ••• to access them.
• Optionally type the dice value into the result field below the photo on the card. Leave it blank if you don't need it — blank won't show any placeholder in the PDF.
• If a can is mid-roll for another player, your roll shows Can is busy and becomes available again momentarily.
• On mobile, swipe left and right in the session panel to switch between players. The Roll button always acts on the player currently in view.

Roll Gallery

• Tap the scroll pile on the table to open a full-screen gallery of all rolls in the session, sorted chronologically across all players.
• Tap a player card photo to open the gallery filtered to that player's rolls only.
• Use ◀ ▶ arrows (desktop) or swipe left/right (mobile) to navigate between rolls.
• Each slide shows the player name, dice type, timestamp, and an editable value field.
• On desktop, scratch/unscratch and verify controls appear directly below the photo.
• On mobile, hold the photo (long press) or tap ••• in the footer to open an action sheet with the same controls.
• The gallery is only available during an active session — photos are cleared after the 30-minute post-session export window.

#4Verifying a Roll

• Every roll is signed with a cryptographic certificate the moment it happens — before the photo even reaches your screen.
• Hit ⬡ Verify on any roll card to open the verification panel. It contacts the server and confirms the certificate is authentic.
• A ✓ SIGNATURE VERIFIED result means the photo hasn't been swapped or altered between the camera and your screen, and the certificate matches the server's record of that roll.
• Tap What does verified mean? in the panel for a full explanation of what the verification proves — and what it doesn't.
• The certificate includes the Roll ID, player, dice, node, timestamp, and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the photo file. You can independently hash the photo yourself and compare.
• Use the Copy buttons to copy the photo hash or full signature for your own records.
• The ↗ Verify independently link opens the raw verification endpoint — anyone can check a certificate without needing an account.

#5Scratching a Bad Roll

• If a roll was bad — dice fell out of frame, camera blocked, motor didn't shake — hit ✕ Scratch beneath the result on the player's card.
• A confirmation dialog appears. You can add an optional reason (e.g. "dice stuck to side of can"). Hit Scratch It to confirm or Cancel to go back.
• Scratched rolls are dimmed and stamped VOID. They are excluded from roll counts and session totals.
• Changed your mind? Tap ↩ Unscratch on the card to restore the roll instantly — no confirmation needed.
• In the PDF, scratched rolls appear with a VOID mark and your reason if entered. The photo and certificate are always kept — nothing is silently deleted.

#6Spotlight & players

• The center spotlight follows who is rolling; player plaques along the side switch the active player.
• On mobile, swipe left or right in the session strip to change player — the floating Roll button always targets whoever is in view.
• Every certified roll is stored in order for the gallery and PDF. Optional per-roll "why we rolled" notes may be added later for your table.

#7Mid-Session Changes

• Click ⚙ Manage Session (desktop: bottom of panel, mobile: session bar) to add players or change dice mid-session.
• Changes take effect immediately and are reflected in the final PDF.

#8Ending a Session & the PDF

• Click End at the top of the panel when you're done. You'll be asked to confirm.
• The PDF lists each player's rolls in chronological order (the same layout as the default export today).
• Download the PDF or skip straight to a new session.
• The PDF includes the roll photo, manual value if entered, and a VOID stamp with reason for scratched rolls.
• Each roll also includes a certificate block — Roll ID, node, player, dice, timestamp, photo hash, and cryptographic signature — plus a QR code linking directly to the public verification endpoint for that roll.
• Anyone with the PDF can scan a QR code and independently verify the roll is authentic, even after your session has ended.
• You have 30 minutes after ending a session to download your PDF before photos are cleared from the server. The countdown is shown on the end screen.

Reward Codes & Tavern Items

• Reward codes unlock collectible items that appear on the tavern table — tankards, tomes, and more coming over time.
• Tap ⬡ Redeem Code (desktop: bottom right, mobile: top left) to enter a code.
• Codes are format X-XXXX-XXXX-XX — the first letter is the type prefix (I for item unlock).
• Items persist in your browser via localStorage. They'll reappear next visit as long as your cookies are intact — if cleared, just re-enter the code.
